NOX Emissions Fail

If you have failed the state emissions test for NOX on a pre-1996 model year and the numbers were close you might eke out a pass by running the highest octane gas you can get at the pump + using a can of BG 44K fuel additive. This assumes your HC and CO numbers were reasonable and there are no major underlying flaws (vacuum leak,non-functional EGR etc.) Run a can of 44K (add to fuel tank), use 92-93 octane when you refill the tank and see what happens.
